Sensory-Friendly Concerts, Hey Oh, Let’s Go!!

June 4, 2011 by The Musical Autist Leave a Comment

Did you miss us? The Musical Autist has been quiet a couple weeks. We’ve been dreaming up new ways to make this site work for us. Networking and successfully aligning ourselves with another local non-profit with whom we share a vision. These are exciting days ahead!
For now, just know – Hey Oh! Let’s Go!!
We’re a week away from the next Sensory-Friendly Concert! :^)

Ms.CJ loves The Ramones. She grew up listening to this great skateboarding music. In 1996, she got to meet Joey Ramone (just 5 years before he died), in DC at a show at The Capital Ballroom. Her big brother was in the opening band, a ska band called The Pietasters. Ms.CJ was just a teenager (she realizes she’s dating herself, whatev’s) and Joey Ramone made a lasting impression on her. He was a super rockstar, yet he was so kind and encouraging to all the young punks.

It takes a strong nature to be kind and encouraging to groups of people (whether they be punks, or non-social skilled autistics) who are not fairly accepted in society. Think about the analogy we just made and think about what our society will look like in 10-20 years, as the autistic population boom continues to grow up.

Let us stay focused on inclusion .. acceptance …. NEURODIVERSITY!

The fine arts should be equally accessed by all people, regardless of whether or not they are capable of sitting still.

"Join us! All ages! All disabilities welcome. You will be blessed. "
